KT-12/H1, or "Able", is the type specimen for Australopithecus bahrelghazali, and consists of a partial adult mandible. This specimen and species is overall similar to Australopithecus afarensis, and overlaps temporally with Au. afarensis. KT-12/H1 is most notable as the first australopith specimen found in Central Africa, suggesting that the radiation of Australopithecus was more widespread than previously believed1.
